Backed by Saudi and Turkish lobbying, al-Sharaa represents a clear break from Syria’s previous alliances. The US views Syria as both a risky opportunity—amid Lebanon’s collapse and Iran-backed militias in Iraq—and a strategic bet under turbulent regional dynamics.
Al-Sharaa asserts a new foreign policy for developing nations: not fully aligning with any side, but pursuing pragmatic relations with both Russia and the West. His diplomatic push is transforming Syria’s position globally, highlighted by his White House visit and ongoing negotiations to end postwar isolation.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) by N75 per litre, bringing the new rate to N1,175 per litre from the previous N1,250.
