22 Suspects Arrested After Mob Kills 8 Travellers in Plateau
The Nigerian Police Force in Plateau State has arrested 22 suspects linked to a mob attack on a passenger bus in Mangun village, Mangu Local Government Area .
The attack occurred around 9:47 p.m. on Friday , when a group of passengers from Zaria, Kaduna State , were ambushed while traveling to Quan’pan LGA for a wedding ceremony .
According to PPRO Alabo Alfred , the bus was set ablaze after being intercepted by an angry mob, leading to the deaths of eight people and injuries to seven others .
A total of 21 passengers were rescued during a swift response led by police and other security agencies .
Fourteen of them escaped without injuries, while the seven wounded were taken to hospital for treatment.
Commissioner Orders Swift Action
Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Adesina ordered immediate intervention upon receiving intelligence about the attack.
He dispatched a team led by the Mangu Divisional Police Officer , who arrived at the scene and dispersed the mob before rescuing survivors.
“22 suspects connected to the attack have been apprehended,” the police said.
They added that investigations are ongoing to determine the full cause and identities of all involved.
Intelligence Units Deployed to Prevent Further Violence
On Saturday morning, Commissioner Adesina visited Mangun village with his management team and other security officials.
They assessed the situation and put measures in place to prevent further attacks.
Mr. Alfred said:
“We urge calm and call on residents to support us with information.”
He also said the State Criminal Investigation Department and Intelligence Unit have launched a full investigation into the incident.
Security personnel remain in the area to monitor tensions and maintain peace.

Passengers injured as Abuja–Kaduna train derails near Asham
