Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has congratulated Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for his match winning performance in Galatasaray’s latest Turkish Süper Lig title triumph. Osimhen scored a decisive brace in a dramatic 4‑2 comeback win over Antalyaspor at Rams Park, sealing the Istanbul club’s record 26th league crown.
In a statement shared on his X handle, Obi praised Osimhen’s resilience, discipline and commitment to excellence, describing him as one of Nigeria’s brightest football exports. “I want to join other fans in congratulating one of Nigeria’s many talented exports, Victor Osimhen, for successfully leading Galatasaray to the Turkish Süper Lig title with a brilliant performance, scoring twice in the decisive victory,” he wrote.
Obi said Osimhen’s story – from humble beginnings to becoming a key figure in European football – should inspire Nigerian youths to believe in hard work, focus and integrity. He noted that the striker’s success is a reminder of the potential Nigerians possess when given the right environment and support to thrive.
The former Anambra governor also used the congratulatory message to restate his vision of a “new Nigeria” where sports, education, health and other sectors grow simultaneously. He argued that investing in young talents like Osimhen and building proper sports infrastructure can contribute to national development and international respect for the country.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray after a successful spell in Italy, has quickly become one of the club’s most influential players, helping them secure back to back league titles. His latest heroics have further strengthened his status as a fan favourite and a symbol of Nigerian excellence abroad.

Ego, inner competition undermine collaborations in Afrobeats – Joeboy
Afrobeats singer Joeboy has decried the growing impact of ego and inner competition on collaborations among Nigerian artists. He said many artistes now approach joint projects with a mindset of rivalry instead of focusing on making timeless music together. According to him, some colleagues only agree to collaborate when they think they will gain more numbers, clout or validation than the other party. Joeboy noted that this attitude makes it difficult to build sincere, long-term partnerships of the kind that once helped push Afrobeats to global prominence. He explained that behind the scenes, a lot of artistes constantly monitor streams, charts and social media buzz, even while publicly preaching unity and “love” in the industry. This quiet comparison culture, he argued, breeds resentment and silently kills the spirit of true collaboration. Despite these challenges, Joeboy maintained that collaborations remain one […]

Reacting to social media criticism over a viral kissing clip from their promotional material, she emphasised that Etim Effiong remains highly controlled, respectful and focused whenever they work together. She explained that intimate scenes are carefully planned with consent, rehearsals and a full crew present, stressing that both actors treat them strictly as part of their job. Fulham manager Marco Silva initially described the setback as “really bad news”, but stressed that early indications suggested it was not a “serious, serious” hamstring problem. He said the club would have to wait for the results of a scan to determine the full extent of the damage, but remained hopeful that Iwobi could feature again before the end of the season. Providing his own update, Iwobi admitted he was frustrated by the timing of the injury but revealed he is still able to walk despite […]
