The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in partnership with global tech company Cisco, has launched applications for free online cybersecurity training.
Announced on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the initiative marks part of Nigeria’s activities for the 2025 Cybersecurity Awareness Month. It aims to equip Nigerians with vital digital skills to tackle the rising threat of cyberattacks both locally and globally.
Applications for the programme are open until October 31, giving individuals and professionals a chance to enhance their cybersecurity knowledge.
NITDA said the initiative is part of its broader mission to strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy by promoting technological advancement and digital literacy. The agency has consistently partnered with international firms like Cisco to deliver world-class tech training across the country.
Cisco, a global leader in networking and cybersecurity, is collaborating with NITDA to build a resilient digital workforce capable of addressing evolving cyber challenges.
This year’s focus on cybersecurity follows alarming reports of growing cybercrime incidents, with Nigeria losing billions of naira annually to digital attacks.
The free courses are open to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced professionals. They are being offered as part of the global Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which promotes safe online habits and improved cyber hygiene.
Interested participants can apply through tinyurl.com/NTCYTraining25 or by scanning the QR code on NITDA’s official poster.
The training complements NITDA’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SecDojo, a French cybersecurity training firm, signed earlier this year to strengthen Nigeria’s cybersecurity framework.
NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, described the collaboration as a major step toward securing Nigeria’s digital future. He emphasized the importance of investing in human capital to build a strong and sustainable digital ecosystem.
Inuwa highlighted that Nigeria’s young and tech-savvy population presents a major opportunity to close the global cybersecurity talent gap. “If we harness this potential effectively, we can connect our youth to the global value chain and fill critical roles in the cybersecurity industry,” he said.
