Nollywood actor and producer Segun Ogungbe has clarified that his wife, Tinuke, and his babymama, actress Wunmi Ajiboye, were never friends, contrary to reports that once trended on social media.
Ogungbe, who appeared as a guest on a recent interview programme, said the widely shared narrative that both women were close and got along as friends was false and “generated by social media.” He explained that from the beginning, there was no such friendship between them.
According to him, the story that his wife and babymama were friends was started by a woman who admired him and wanted him to marry her. He alleged that she became angry after he got another woman pregnant outside wedlock, despite her financial support for his movie projects, and then went online to claim that his wife and babymama were friends, a version which blogs amplified.
Ogungbe said he never planned to practise polygamy and had always maintained that he did not want more than one wife. He, however, admitted that his personal choices led to a complicated situation that played out in the public and on social media.
The actor added that the rumour about harmony between the two women did not reflect reality in his home and urged fans to stop believing everything they read online about his family life.
