Abrewa Ne Nkran: A Hidden Community Linked to Illegal Mining and Criminal Activities
Abrewa Ne Nkran is an unregistered settlement in Ghana, reportedly formed by both Ghanaian citizens and foreign nationals engaged in illegal gold mining—commonly known as galamsey—within protected forest reserves. The community lacks basic social infrastructure such as schools, healthcare facilities, clean water, and proper housing, and it does not appear in any official national documentation or planning records.
Investigations by Bossu News reveal that the area is not only notorious for unlawful mining activities but is also associated with a range of serious criminal offenses, including human trafficking, child abuse, prostitution, and money laundering. These illicit operations thrive in the absence of law enforcement oversight, allowing criminal networks to operate with impunity.
A significant portion of the population in Abrewa Ne Nkran is believed to be made up of foreign nationals from neighboring West African countries. Many residents are actively involved in galamsey operations, which continue to degrade the environment, pollute water bodies, and threaten biodiversity within Ghana’s forest reserves.
The existence of this hidden enclave raises urgent questions about border control, law enforcement, and the effectiveness of national anti-galamsey campaigns. Authorities are being urged to intensify surveillance, enforce existing mining regulations, and initiate proper resettlement and rehabilitation programs for communities like Abrewa Ne Nkran that have been overtaken by illegal activities.

Why soccer might be Sweden’s way out of a gang crime crisis
Every Saturday night, deep in the heart of Gottsunda—a suburb on the outskirts of Uppsala, Sweden’s fourth-largest city—an unusual kind of football match takes place. Organized by Robert Wirehag, a local pastor and former youth player for Swedish club IK Sirius, these weekly games are more than just sport. They’re an intervention. Uppsala, known historically as a calm university town located about 70 kilometers (44 miles) from Stockholm, seems worlds apart from the energy in Gottsunda after dark. Here, instead of students and scholars, the streets are filled with boys aged 12 to 17. And according to Wirehag, they all have one thing in common: they’re potential gang recruits. “Why? Because they live in a specific suburb in the outer part of the city,” Wirehag explains. “All of them are at risk. Some are already involved in gangs, others are […]

Manchester United Collapse Against Newcastle: Neville Slams Squad Quality and Recruitment Strategy
Manchester United’s nightmare season continued with a dismal second-half collapse at St James’ Park, where they slumped to their 14th Premier League defeat. Despite Alejandro Garnacho briefly leveling the score after Sandro Tonali’s opener, Harvey Barnes struck twice to put Newcastle back in control before Bruno Guimarães added a late fourth. The 4-1 defeat leaves United languishing in 14th place, just three points above the relegation zone, and on course for their lowest ever Premier League points total. Gary Neville, speaking on NBC Sports, delivered a scathing assessment of the current United squad, acknowledging the effort of the players but condemning their lack of quality. “There’s no shortage of effort,” he said. “But they’re so far below the standard required at Manchester United. All over the pitch, it’s just not good enough.” Neville highlighted the alarming state of the squad, […]
