Reality TV star Mariam Timmer says staying true to herself has created major opportunities in her career. She described her role on the first edition of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip Africa as a major milestone that cemented her place in African reality television.
Timmer, an original cast member of The Real Housewives of Lagos, said the new show will reveal how much she has grown personally, emotionally and professionally since season one. She believes viewers will see that she now shows up with more intention, clarity and control and helps set the tone in group dynamics.
She explained that she immediately connected with Annie Mthembu from the Durban franchise and Princess Jecoco from Abuja. According to her, their bond went beyond the show as they supported one another by sharing personal struggles off camera, which she described as true sisterhood.
Known for being expressive and unfiltered, Timmer said she did not try to manage how others see her during the trip. She insisted she remained herself but in a more self aware and intentional way, noting that other cast members initially felt cautious around her before realising she was easy to relate with.
Reacting to Annie Mthembu’s remark that she and Christall Kay tied for bringing the most drama, Timmer said she was happy to own that description. She added that beyond drama she brings authenticity, fun and heart, which she believes makes her presence on the show memorable.
Timmer said she felt proud to represent Lagos and Nigeria throughout the trip. She highlighted moments when she taught other housewives about her Yoruba heritage and said their curiosity and appreciation for Nigerian culture meant a lot to her.
Fashion was another key part of her identity on the show, as she chose to wear only Nigerian designers. She said every outfit was intentional and designed to showcase the creativity of Nigerian and African fashion on a continental platform.
On why viewers should watch her on RHUGT Africa, Timmer said she offers a mix of authenticity, grace, fashion, humour and drama. She promised viewers bold energy and unforgettable moments, saying she is unapologetically herself and always ready to make an impact in every scene.

Police investigate alleged shooting of comedian Broda Shaggi
The police have opened an investigation into the alleged shooting of popular skit maker and comedian Samuel Perry, better known as Broda Shaggi, during a skit shoot in Ogun State. Reports say Broda Shaggi sustained a gunshot injury on Sunday afternoon while filming a comedy skit under the Sango Ota bridge in the Sango Ota area of Ogun.
