Lower patience contributes to strain in modern marriages – BBNaija Tochi

Article arrow_drop_down

Big Brother Naija star Tochi has said that lower levels of patience, tolerance and endurance among today’s couples are a major reason many modern marriages are under intense strain. Sharing his views on Instagram, he argued that people of this generation “don’t have the same level of tolerance, patience and endurance our mothers and fathers had.”

According to him, many young spouses are now “too woke”, quick to walk away from relationships rather than work through challenges and sacrifices that previous generations accepted as part of marriage. He noted that this mindset, combined with social media pressure and changing values, has made it harder for couples to stay committed when problems arise.

Tochi suggested that modern marriages should even operate more like formal contracts, where partners understand clearly the weight of the vows they are taking. In his view, if one person breaks those vows, there should be some form of “penalty”, to remind people that marriage is not something to be entered into or exited casually.

He also implied that many adults today are increasingly comfortable with being alone and independent, which means they are less willing to endure discomfort or compromise for the sake of keeping a union intact. While some fans agreed with his concerns, others argued that what older generations called patience sometimes meant enduring abuse or deep unhappiness.

Tochi’s comments have sparked fresh conversation online about where to draw the line between healthy endurance and staying in clearly harmful marriages, and how couples can balance self-respect with commitment in this new era.

Arbeloa told me I’ve been demoted to fourth striker – Mbappé

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has claimed that head coach Álvaro Arbeloa told him he is now only the fourth-choice striker at the club. Man City battle fatigue ahead of FA Cup final clash with troubled Chelsea

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City are battling mounting fatigue as they prepare to face a troubled Chelsea side in Saturday’s FA Cup final at Wembley. City are chasing a domestic cup double while still locked in a tight Premier League title race with Arsenal, leaving the squad stretched by a relentless schedule. Guardiola’s men were in league action as recently as Wednesday, when they beat Crystal Palace 3–0 to close the gap on Arsenal to two points with two games remaining. In contrast, Chelsea have had a full week to rest and train at Cobham, a gap the City boss believes could hand the London club a physical edge at Wembley. “After the FA Cup, we have Bournemouth, we play every three days. Chelsea have a week at home training, preparing the final,” Guardiola said. “We have to travel to […]

Ego, inner competition undermine collaborations in Afrobeats – Joeboy

Afrobeats singer Joeboy has decried the growing impact of ego and inner competition on collaborations among Nigerian artists. He said many artistes now approach joint projects with a mindset of rivalry instead of focusing on making timeless music together. According to him, some colleagues only agree to collaborate when they think they will gain more numbers, clout or validation than the other party. Joeboy noted that this attitude makes it difficult to build sincere, long-term partnerships of the kind that once helped push Afrobeats to global prominence. He explained that behind the scenes, a lot of artistes constantly monitor streams, charts and social media buzz, even while publicly preaching unity and “love” in the industry. This quiet comparison culture, he argued, breeds resentment and silently kills the spirit of true collaboration. Despite these challenges, Joeboy maintained that collaborations remain one […]
