Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah will bring down the curtain on his stellar Liverpool career at the end of the season, closing one of the most successful personal eras in the club’s history.
Salah, now 33, joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 in a deal worth about £34 million. Since then he has made 435 appearances in all competitions and scored 255 goals, placing him third on the club’s all time scoring list behind Ian Rush on 346 goals and Roger Hunt on 285.
He became the fastest player in Liverpool’s history to reach 100 league goals, hitting the landmark in just 151 Premier League matches. Salah has also provided 119 assists in all competitions, including a joint club record 92 Premier League assists, a figure he shares with former captain Steven Gerrard.
In Europe, Salah is Liverpool’s all time leading scorer with 53 goals, 48 of them in the UEFA Champions League. He also holds the record for the club’s fastest goal in European Cup or Champions League history, scoring after only 55 seconds against Danish side FC Midtjylland in 2020.
Among Premier League opponents, Salah has scored more goals against Manchester United than any other team, finding the net 16 times against Liverpool’s historic rivals. Tottenham Hotspur are next on the list, with the forward scoring 14 goals against the London club.
In October 2021 he became the first player ever to score a Premier League hat trick for an away team at Old Trafford, when Liverpool thrashed Manchester United on their home ground.
Salah’s honours with Liverpool include one Champions League title in 2019, when the club also reached the final in 2018 and 2022. He has won the Premier League twice, in 2019 20 and 2024 25, as well as the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2019.
On the domestic front, he lifted the FA Cup and League Cup in 2022 and was a League Cup finalist again in 2025. These trophies underline his central role in Liverpool’s modern golden era under manager Jurgen Klopp.
Individually, Salah has twice been named Premier League Player of the Season, in 2017 18 and 2024 25. He has also won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year awards three times each, in 2017 18, 2021 22 and 2024 25.
He shares the record of four Premier League Golden Boots with Thierry Henry, finishing top scorer in 2017 18, sharing the award in 2018 19 and 2021 22, and winning it again in 2024 25. Within the club he has been voted Liverpool Players’ Player of the Season five times and named PFA Fans’ Player of the Year on three occasions.
For Egypt, Salah has earned 113 caps and scored 65 goals, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s greatest footballers and a modern Premier League icon.
