Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has opened up on why reconciling with Funke Akindele was so important to her. She said she spent years praying for their relationship to be restored, valuing peace of mind and genuine reconciliation more than any career opportunity.
Olayode, popularly known as Toyo Baby from her role in Jenifa’s Diary, explained that she and Akindele had grown apart due to issues largely influenced by a third party. She revealed that a former music teacher who acted as her mentor at the time overstepped boundaries, took control of her social media accounts, and even posted messages in her name without her full understanding.
According to her, those actions contributed to misunderstandings with Akindele and also affected a relationship she was in at the time. Looking back, she described the entire episode as a painful mistake and said she felt deep regret over how things turned out.
Juliana said she kept praying and hoping for a chance to make things right. When reconciliation finally happened, she was more interested in healing the relationship than in whether they would work together again on screen.
She praised Funke Akindele for standing by her during some of her toughest moments and for playing a huge role in her rise to fame. For this reason, she wanted their bond restored, regardless of public opinion or industry gossip.
The actress described Akindele as an industry mother and said their relationship today is one of mutual love and respect. She stressed that there is no bad blood between them and that people should stop assuming they are at war.
Juliana also encouraged young actors to be careful about who they allow to manage their careers and personal decisions. She advised them to seek wise counsel and to deal with conflicts early, before they damage important relationships.
