INEC Slams PDP Over Improper NEC Meeting Notice
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected the PDP’s notice for its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting due to a procedural error .
A letter from INEC, dated June 13, 2025 , and signed by acting secretary Haliru Aminu , said the notice failed to meet guidelines set out in Part 2(12)3 of the 2022 Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties .
According to the commission, such notices must be jointly signed by the party’s national chairman and national secretary before submission.
“The notice was not properly signed,” INEC stated.
“Please refer to the regulation and resubmit accordingly.”

Tinubu Breaks Ground on New INEC Headquarters
President Bola Tinubu has commissioned the construction of the new INEC headquarters in Abuja , calling it a symbol of democratic strength and institutional independence .
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Tinubu described the project as more than just a building.
“This is about trust in our democracy, in our institutions, and in the integrity of our elections.”
He praised the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike , for his role in pushing the project forward.
“The FCT Minister has taken a bold step to protect our democracy. I salute his courage.”
Tinubu urged Nigerians to see democracy as a journey—not a destination—and called for continued support for democratic values.
“Let us safeguard our freedoms and protect the future together.”
Project To Be Completed Within Tinubu’s First Term
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike confirmed that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the project in March 2025 , not the FCT Administration.
He assured that the headquarters will be completed within 24 months —before the end of President Tinubu’s first term.
“This structure will get all the time it needs to ensure completion during this administration.”
Wike also issued a strong message to the contractor:
“I’ve made sure he stays under the sun and rain until the job is done right. He will justify every kobo spent.”
The new headquarters will include modern facilities to support election planning, staff training, and digital infrastructure to improve transparency and efficiency.
