Winner of Big Brother Naija Season 10, Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, has said her openness and authenticity were key to her victory in the reality TV show.
In an interview with Oghenovo Egodo-Michael, Imisi described her win as a surreal and emotional experience. “I feel good, excited, and deeply grateful. It still feels unreal — I haven’t fully come to terms with it,” she said.
Speaking about her first conversation with her mother after the win, she said, “She told me, ‘You are a child that made me proud.’ Those words meant everything to me.”
When asked about the strategy that earned her the title, Imisi credited her honesty and emotional openness. “My vulnerability was my greatest strength. If being myself was seen as a strategy, then so be it. I was just living my truth,” she said.
Reflecting on her time in the house, she recalled moments that stood out for her, including making her fellow housemates laugh, enjoying diary sessions, and hearing Big Brother compliment her gele (headtie). “That compliment still rings in my head,” she said.
On who she thought could have won if she hadn’t, Imisi mentioned Kola, Isabella, and Dede as deserving contenders, describing them as talented, charismatic, and genuine.
Regarding her prize money, she said she plans to invest carefully. “I don’t want to rush any decision. I’ll make sure the money is used wisely to generate returns,” she explained.
Imisi also hinted at returning to school but said she was more focused on business and entertainment. “Viewers already saw my acting side in the house. I know I’m a good actress,” she said.
Asked if Nollywood is ready for her, she smiled and replied, “I hope they are because I’m ready for them.” She expressed her desire to work with top industry figures such as Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Mo Abudu, and Bimbo Ademoye, among others.
Imisi revealed her surprise at learning that several celebrities supported her during the show. “I was shocked when I heard that. I still can’t believe it,” she said.
When asked if she would join Big Brother again, she responded positively. “Yes, definitely. I now have a better understanding of what it takes to live with different people,” she said.
Addressing her strained relationship with fellow housemate Faith, she said, “I’ve already forgiven him, but I’m not forcing reconciliation. If it happens naturally, that’s fine.”
She also reacted to her viral nickname, “Ijoba 606,” given by fellow housemate Kulture. “I was surprised to see it trending. My fans embraced it, and yes, I’ll be owning it proudly,” she said.
On staying relevant in the entertainment industry, Imisi said she plans to stay grounded and seek mentorship. “I’m new to fame, but I’ll do my best and take guidance from experienced people who can help me grow,” she added.
