Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has done it again — this time cooking the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice, setting a new Guinness World Record at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
The event drew a massive crowd of over 20,000 food lovers, celebrities, and influencers, turning the venue into a festive celebration of food and culture.
Before starting, Hilda personally washed the giant red pot, sharing with fans: “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I washed it myself.”
She explained that careful calculations went into the recipe to preserve the authenticity of the jollof, saying, “To keep the authenticity of the jollof rice, I applied some mathematics, and we will still watch it while it is cooking to make sure that everything is right.”
The attempt began with an emotional prayer session led by Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters Church. As the rice simmered, excitement grew, with guests eagerly waiting for a taste.
Notable personalities including Veekee James, Tomike Adeoye, Enioluwa, and Funke Akindele turned up in support. Akindele even thrilled the crowd with a few dance steps, while artist Spryo added music to the festivities with live performances.
Guinness World Records also showed encouragement, commenting on Hilda’s Instagram: “Best of luck, Hilda and team!”
This new feat follows Hilda’s record-breaking 2023 Cookathon, where she cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes, earning the title for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
With her latest record, Hilda Baci has further cemented her reputation as a pioneering culinary innovator and an inspiration across Africa.

UN: Africa urgently needs more fish farms to meet rising demand
The United Nations has urged Africa to urgently invest in more fish farms to meet rising demand for aquatic foods, especially as population growth and urbanization continue to increase the need for fish across the continent. According to UN sources, demand for fish is rising due to greater awareness of the health benefits of fish, alongside pressure from declining natural fish stocks and warmer water temperatures that are reducing wild catches. The push for aquaculture development is part of a broader strategy to improve food security and support sustainable economic growth in African countries. Experts say that without expanded fish farming, Africa could face growing supply gaps as wild fisheries become less able to meet consumer needs.

Among its reliefs, the plaintiff asked the court to declare that INEC has a constitutional duty to deregister parties failing to meet electoral thresholds. The forum also urged the court to […]
