Celebrated Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has shared the story of how she earned her first one million naira in 1999.

She revealed that this major career milestone came from her breakout role as ‘Bisi’ in the popular TV series, “I Need to Know.” Akindele explained that her journey to success was not easy, as she started with minor roles and faced many rejections before landing the life-changing part.

Interestingly, she almost lost the role after the pilot episode. The producers told her she was “overacting” and not sounding like a teenager. Akindele said she went home worried, but her younger sister helped her practice and perfect the teenage tone, which ultimately secured her the part.

When asked how she spent the money, Akindele said the first thing she did was show it to her mother, who advised her to pay her tithe. After that, she treated herself to a new wardrobe, including shoes and bags, celebrating her transformation from a struggling actress to a successful one.

76 ISWAP commanders surrender as military intensifies offensive

Top commanders of the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, have surrendered to Nigerian troops alongside 76 fighters and their family members in the North-East. The surrender reportedly followed weeks of sustained air and ground offensives by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, which the military said had weakened the group’s command structure, logistics network and movement corridors.
