Nollywood star and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has revealed how he and his partners tackled piracy on his latest blockbuster, Ageshinkole 2: King of Thieves 2, by opting for community screenings instead of a traditional cinema‑only release. He said piracy control was fully handled by technical partner Circuit TV, whose distribution structure helped protect the movie from illegal copying while it toured Nigerian communities.
“Piracy was fully handled by Circuit TV,” Adebayo explained, noting that the company has a “wonderful structure” that makes it extremely difficult for content in its system to be pirated. Working with distributor Blue Pictures, he added, they combined experience, logistics and a strong framework and were confident they would “get it right”.
In December 2025, Adebayo launched Ageshinkole 2 with a nationwide Community Cinema tour as both a way of giving back to fans and an innovative distribution strategy. The film was taken directly to local areas across Nigeria through December and into early January 2026, rather than relying solely on conventional cinemas.
He said the approach paid off, with the movie grossing over N400 million in its first 12 days despite piracy threats. The sequel builds on the original King of Thieves’ success, promising deeper drama, suspense and culturally rich storytelling that connects strongly with grassroots audiences.
