Awudome Senior High School in the Volta Region has launched new anti-sexual harassment and sexual misconduct guidelines aimed at tackling abuse within the school community. The initiative is designed to encourage victims to speak out by providing clear, accessible information on how to report incidents of harassment.
The school’s headmaster, Courage Meteku, emphasized the importance of this detailed and simplified reporting system, which includes both verbal and digital channels to ensure confidentiality and safety for students. The digital platform allows students to report incidents from home, making it easier for them to come forward without fear of retaliation.
The launch took place during the “Orange the World 16 Days of Advocacy” campaign at the school, with a focus on raising awareness about gender-based violence. The Volta Regional Director of Education, Francis Agbemadi, praised the school for breaking the culture of silence around sexual harassment and creating a safer, more supportive environment for students.
The new guidelines reflect a broader effort to eliminate sexual harassment and ensure accountability in schools.
