The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has launched the groundbreaking Girls4Goals initiative aimed at promoting gender equality through football in the Volta Region. The event, held at Keta Business School, celebrated the vision of inclusivity with cultural performances and a historic mixed-gender football match, a first for Ghana.
Supported by GFA, FIFA, La Guilde, and GIZ, the nine-month initiative blends football with leadership training for boys and girls, aiming to break societal barriers and inspire respect between genders. “We are shifting cultural norms,” said Ama Brobey Williams, GFA’s Deputy General Secretary.
The initiative seeks to empower girls, erase the stigma that football is a male-dominated sport, and inspire confidence and leadership. Traditional leaders and students have expressed their excitement, viewing the program as a beacon for the future of gender equality in sports and society.
The Girls4Goals initiative is poised to create a lasting impact by fostering a new generation of girls and boys embracing equality and excelling together in football.

In contrast, Chelsea have had a full week to rest and train at Cobham, a gap the City boss believes could hand the London club a physical edge at Wembley. “After the FA Cup, we have Bournemouth, we play every three days. Chelsea have a week at home training, preparing the final,” Guardiola said. “We have to travel to […]
