Valencia ended a 15-year winless streak at the Santiago Bernabeu, defeating Real Madrid 2-1 on April 5, 2025. The dramatic win was sealed by Hugo Duro’s stoppage-time goal, lifting Valencia to a crucial victory and providing a much-needed boost to their survival hopes.

The match kicked off with drama as Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. had his penalty saved by Giorgi Mamardashvili in the 13th minute. Just two minutes later, Valencia capitalized on a corner kick, with Mouctar Diakihaby heading them into the lead.

Real Madrid dominated possession and fired nine shots on goal but struggled to create clear chances. Vinicius Jr. redeemed himself with a well-taken goal in the 50th minute, bringing the score level.

However, it was Valencia who had the last word. In the 90+5 minute, Duro scored the winner, sending the away fans into ecstasy. The victory moved Valencia up to 15th place, with a seven-point cushion above the relegation zone, while Real Madrid’s hopes of catching Barcelona at the top of La Liga remain uncertain.
