Govt to Scrap COVID-19 Levy in Next Budget – Ablakwa

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the government will eliminate the COVID-19 levy in its upcoming budget. Addressing the Ghanaian community in Benin, he emphasized that only one more tax remains to be removed to fulfill the government’s commitment to abolish four taxes imposed by the previous administration.

The Foreign Minister highlighted that the betting tax, E-Levy, and emissions tax had already been scrapped following President Mahama’s assent to the bills on April 2. This announcement was met with cheers and applause from the audience, underscoring the positive response from the Ghanaian diaspora.

Ablakwa also assured Ghanaians that the Mahama administration is committed to delivering on its promises, including investing in the youth by setting aside funds for their development. He urged Ghanaians to remain confident in the government’s actions and its dedication to meeting the needs of the people.
