No Containers Lost: Samuel Dubik Mahama Denies Missing Cargo Claims

Samuel Dubik Mahama, the former managing director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has vehemently denied allegations of missing containers at the Tema Port. In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mahama emphasized that containers cannot simply go missing at the port, explaining that they are all traceable via their unique identification numbers.

He noted that even if a container were to be lost at sea, it would be easy to track, and authorities would be notified. Mahama questioned the validity of the claims, pointing out that a simple physical count of containers might not be the most accurate way to determine if any were truly missing.

Mahama further distanced the ECG from the controversy, stating that the only container-related issue under his leadership was an auction by the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), which he tried to stop. He also clarified that once containers are in the custody of the Customs and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), ECG had no involvement in their handling.

Describing the accusations as a “witch-hunt,” Mahama firmly stated that the ECG should not be held accountable for containers that are not under its responsibility.
