In response to allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering at Kotoka International Airport, President John Dramani Mahama has called for a comprehensive investigation. The claims were brought to light by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, a member of parliament, who highlighted two suspicious flights linked to illicit activities during a press conference.
President Mahama emphasized the government’s commitment to tackling such issues, assuring the public that the investigation would be thorough. He has instructed various agencies, including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), to work together with Rev. Fordjour to uncover the truth.
In a Facebook post, President Mahama reiterated that the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking, either as a transit point or a final destination. He also referenced a recent drug seizure by the NIB, which uncovered narcotics worth $350 million.
Authorities are expected to release more updates as the investigation unfolds, with the government reaffirming its dedication to transparency and combating drug-related crimes.
