Teacher and Nurse Trainees to Receive Monthly Allowances – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that teacher and nurse trainees in Ghana will now receive their allowances on a monthly basis, aligning their payments with the regular compensation package for public sector workers. This decision aims to eliminate the delays in allowance payments and the resulting arrears that have affected trainees in the past.

President Mahama made this announcement during his nationwide thank-you tour in the Northern region. While addressing the chiefs and people of Tamale, he highlighted that this move is part of efforts to improve the welfare of trainees and ensure that they are supported throughout their training period.

In addition, President Mahama revealed that over 500 million cedis has been allocated to procure textbooks locally for all basic schools. This initiative aims to resolve the persistent issue of textbook shortages that have plagued basic education in Ghana over the past eight years.

President Mahama expressed gratitude to the Northern region for its loyalty and trust in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), especially when many had questioned the party’s popularity in the area.

This announcement is part of President Mahama’s continued efforts to improve education and healthcare in the country.
