Kurt Okraku Makes History with CAF Executive Committee Appointment

In a significant development for Ghanaian football, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has successfully secured a position on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). His unopposed nomination as the representative of WAFU Zone B ensures that he will serve a four-year term from 2025 to 2029 on the influential 24-member committee.

Okraku, who became the GFA president in 2019, further solidified his role in African football by taking the leadership of WAFU Zone B in 2023. His appointment to CAF’s Executive Committee provides Ghana with a stronger presence in shaping football’s future across the continent. This move also enhances the GFA’s ability to advocate for reforms and developments that benefit African football.

Okraku’s new role places him alongside past Ghanaian football leaders like Ohene Djan, Kobina Hagan, and Kwesi Nyantakyi, further boosting the country’s legacy in continental football decision-making.
