Driver Who Killed Two Former Achimota Students in Hit-and-Run Arrested

The driver responsible for the fatal hit-and-run incident that killed two former Achimota School students, Davida Asante Boateng and Lilian Akorli, has been captured, as confirmed by family sources. The accident occurred on March 7, 2025, along the Achimota Highway when the two young women were returning to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) after attending Achimota School’s bonfire event.

The driver, who fled the scene in a black Toyota Corolla, was apprehended after a police chase. Alice Safoa, Davida’s aunt, shared that the driver sought refuge at a hospital after fearing retribution from witnesses, though he was later arrested and returned to police custody once his health was assessed.

Davida and Lilian were rushed to the hospital, but tragically, Davida passed away around 4 a.m. on March 8, followed by Lilian later that morning. The incident has sparked grief within the Achimota School and UPSA communities, with renewed calls for stronger road safety measures along the Achimota Highway.

The case is now under investigation by the police, with potential prosecution on the horizon.
