Ghanaian rapper and 4×4 member Captain Planet has called on the music industry to take immediate action to support embattled hiplife legend Okomfour Kwadee. His plea comes after a recent video of Kwadee performing shirtless surfaced online, showing the rapper looking frail and unwell.
Kwadee, who has battled mental health challenges and substance abuse issues, has reportedly been in and out of rehab over the years. Currently, he is with his family in Mirigu Nabango, Upper East Region.
Captain Planet urged industry stakeholders to unite and help Kwadee before it’s too late. His message resonated with fans and media personalities like Dr Pounds, who also called for collective action.
Social media reactions were mixed, with some supporting Captain Planet’s call, while others questioned whether Kwadee was willing to accept help. Some critics also pointed out that while the industry tends to show up in grand style for funerals, it often fails to assist artists when they are struggling.
Last year, Kwadee’s family publicly appealed for financial assistance to support his recovery, but the situation remains dire.
