Samuel Nartey George, the Minister nominee for Communications, Digitalisation, and Innovation, has vowed to implement a more efficient and technology-driven SIM re-registration process if confirmed for the role.
During his vetting before the Appointments Committee on Thursday, January 30, he criticized the previous registration process, citing long queues and inefficiencies. He assured that the new system would be seamless, eliminating the need for physical queues by leveraging digital solutions.
“We will do a proper SIM re-registration again, and this time, there will be no queues because common sense will prevail, and we will use technology to do it,” he stated confidently.
Mr. George emphasized that the initiative is crucial for securing Ghana’s telecommunications network and preventing fraud. He pledged that under his leadership, the Ministry would prioritize innovation and efficiency to enhance the sector’s reliability and inclusivity.
