Kenyan police arrested a 29-year-old man, John Kiama Wambua, in Huruma, Nairobi, after finding body parts of his wife, 19-year-old Joy Fridah Munani, in his backpack. During a dawn patrol, officers stopped Wambua and made the grim discovery. He later led police to his home, where more body parts, a knife, and blood-soaked clothes were found. Wambua appeared unaffected by the situation, according to Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
This shocking incident highlights the alarming rate of femicide in Kenya. The country has witnessed multiple high-profile cases, including the brutal murders of Olympic runner Rebecca Cheptegei and other women. Protests against these gender-based killings have been met with police resistance, underscoring the urgent need for action.
