Operatives of the Department of State Services have intercepted a major arms shipment allegedly destined for a notorious bandit kingpin.
Security sources said the suspect was caught while transporting a cache of arms and ammunition from Maigatari Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The consignment was reportedly headed for a known bandit leader operating across several North Central states.
The intercepted weapons included items such as rifles and ammunition, which were believed to be intended to strengthen the firepower of criminal gangs. Investigators believe that stopping this shipment has disrupted an important supply line to the armed group.
According to the report, the suspect is now in custody and undergoing interrogation by security operatives. Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect may be part of a wider network that moves arms across state lines for bandits and other criminal groups.
The targeted recipient of the consignment is said to be a bandit kingpin known for coordinating violent attacks, kidnappings and other criminal activities in Benue, Nasarawa and neighbouring states. Security sources said efforts are ongoing to track other members of the network and to identify their financiers and collaborators.
The interception is seen as a major boost to ongoing efforts by security agencies to weaken the logistics and supply chains that sustain bandit groups. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements of weapons or criminal activities in their communities.
The Department of State Services is expected to hand over the suspect and the recovered arms to the appropriate authorities after the conclusion of its preliminary investigation. Further updates are expected as the probe into the arms trafficking network continues.

Presidency disowns fake appointment by non-existent council
The Presidency has disowned a purported appointment letter circulating in the name of a so called Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, describing both the council and the alleged appointment as fake. In a formal disclaimer issued from the Office of the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila said the Federal Government became aware that one Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi was presenting himself as having been appointed under the alleged council.
