Afrobeats star Davido has apologised to gospel singer Tosinbee after wrongly linking him to a lawyer involved in his ongoing child custody battle. The mix-up started after a tense court session over the custody of Davido’s daughter, Imade, involving his estranged partner, Sophia Momodu.
Following the hearing at the Lagos State High Court, Davido went on social media to criticise one of Sophia’s lawyers. In the process, he reshared a post by Tosinbee, apparently assuming the singer was the lawyer’s son, and used harsh words against him.
Tosinbee quickly clarified that he had no connection to the lawyer or the custody case. He explained that his mother died eight years ago and described the situation as a simple case of mistaken identity while offering prayers and goodwill to Davido.
After Tosinbee’s explanation, Davido admitted the error and issued a brief public apology on social media. He acknowledged that he had directed his frustration at the wrong person and expressed regret for the misunderstanding.
The incident has sparked online conversations about the risks of misidentification and emotional outbursts during sensitive legal disputes. Many users have urged caution in calling out individuals on social media, especially when court cases and personal reputations are involved.
