Dangote Group has confirmed that one of its trucks was involved in an accident in Auchi, Edo State, which left Ruth Otabor — sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna — with severe injuries. Her leg was later amputated due to the crash.
In a statement, the company said senior officials and its insurance team visited Ruth and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital to offer support, arrange medical care, and begin the process for compensation.
The company assured that Ruth will receive “comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation” in line with its welfare policy.
“This action reflects our unwavering commitment to the well-being of those affected,” the statement read. “Our thoughts remain with Mrs. Ruth Otabor and her loved ones, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery.”
Phyna had earlier taken to social media to demand justice for her sister, drawing widespread public attention to the case.
