Why Filmmakers Can’t Use Afrobeats Songs by Dammy Twitch
Music video director and filmmaker Dammy Twitch has explained why Nollywood producers can no longer freely use Afrobeats songs in their movies, citing artists selling their music rights to distribution companies as the primary reason. The reason is that most of the distribution companies Nigerian musicians use are based in the US or the UK since they don't have the infrastructure to handle rights management in Nigeria. Once artists sell their songs, filmmakers cannot afford the licensing fees required to use them in films. Dammy Twitch stated: "I think because people have sold their song already, so it gets to a point where I want to use this song for my film, for example, I can't afford it." He noted that many artists have already sold their music rights to distribution companies, making them inaccessible or prohibitively expensive for Nollywood […]

AY Makun Calls for National Unity in Fight Against Insecurity
Popular Nigerian comedian, actor, and filmmaker Ayo Makun, widely known as AY Makun, has called for national unity in the fight against Nigeria's escalating insecurity, describing the country as turning into a "crime scene" amid rising bandit attacks and kidnappings. AY Makun argued that financial ties to political interests can weaken accountability in Nigeria's security and governance system. He emphasized that Nigerians must unite across ethnic, religious, and political lines to demand real action from the government and security agencies to end the crisis. The comedian's comments come amid recent attacks involving school kidnappings, killings of security personnel, and increased bandit activities across Nigeria. He wrote that bandits now storm churches to kill and abduct Christians, while children are kidnapped from schools and even a Brigadier General was shot dead. AY lamented that "every day brings fresh chaos yet the […]

Arsenal’s Mosquera, Havertz Start Champions League Final Against PSG
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has started Cristhian Mosquera at right-back and Kai Havertz up front in bold selection choices for the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain at Budapest's Puskás Arena on May 30, 2026. Mosquera, the 19-year-old Spanish centre-back, starts at right-back instead of the fit Jurrien Timber, who has been out since March with a groin injury but was declared fit and named on the bench. Arteta opted for Mosquera on the right of defence to face PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, arguably the tournament's top performer. Arsenal's confirmed starting XI is: David Raya (goalkeeper); Cristhian Mosquera, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, Piero Hincapié (defence); Declan Rice, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Martin Ødegaard (midfield); Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka (front line). The biggest decision in attack was choosing Kai Havertz over big-money striker Viktor Gyökeres. Havertz, who scored Chelsea's only […]

She stressed that no one should allow anyone to pressure them into performing success instead of building stability. "When you have some fame and money, the pressure is on. You start to think you must look successful all the time. You must drive the right car, stay in the right places, wear the right clothes, and always be seen in the right places," she wrote.
