Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has advised young people to enjoy their youth while also preparing seriously for old age. He gave the counsel in a reflective video shared on his Instagram page.
Agu spoke about the many health challenges that often come with ageing, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart, kidney and liver problems, stroke and other conditions. He said old age is not child’s play and urged youths to make wise choices while they still have strength.
Quoting Ecclesiastes 3 verse 1, he reminded his audience that there is a season and time for everything. He said old age is best enjoyed when people have planned ahead, not when they reach that stage unprepared and weighed down by avoidable worries.
The actor encouraged young people to hold firmly to God, treat their families well and work hard to achieve financial stability. He repeated that they should make plenty money legally and invest wisely because bills in old age will be more expensive than what they currently spend in clubs and on leisure.
Agu warned that, in old age, people no longer spend money with the relaxed hope that more income will come easily. Instead, they spend with caution and concern, carefully counting their days and resources. He urged youths to balance enjoyment with planning so they can face the future with dignity.
