Buhari Stayed at High Commission, Friends’ Homes in London – Adesina
Femi Adesina , former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to late President Muhammadu Buhari , has revealed that Buhari did not own a private residence in London and did not pay for his medical bills himself , relying instead on friends and the Nigerian High Commission during his frequent health-related trips.
In an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, Adesina dismissed rumors that Buhari had a permanent home in the UK.
“He did not have a house in London,” Adesina said.
He explained that Buhari stayed at the Nigerian High Commission during most of his medical visits, including an eight-month medical trip , where he occupied the High Commissioner’s official residence for most of the time.
“The High Commissioner even moved to a smaller apartment to give him space.”
“Buhari Called on Friends to Help With Medical Costs” – Adesina
Adesina hinted that Buhari’s medical expenses were often covered by wealthy Nigerian associates , including business leaders like Aliko Dangote and Abdulsamad Rabiu .
“I doubt he paid for those bills himself. He just needed to call a friend—the Dangotes, the Abdusalamis—and they would oblige.”
He also confirmed that Buhari traveled on private jets owned by Nigerian billionaires, saying:
“I know the jets he went in.”
Adesina added that Buhari maintained a consistent medical team in London , even before his presidency.
“He always used the same set of doctors. Those who knew his history stayed with him.”
Children’s Schooling Was Funded by Associates – Adesina
When asked about claims that Buhari’s children attended expensive schools in the UK , Adesina said the former President himself clarified that he did not pay the fees directly .
“He told me, ‘I don’t know. My friends pay it.’ He even told me to go see Modi, his brother, for the details.”
This confirms earlier speculation that Buhari’s family expenses abroad were largely supported by associates , not from his personal funds or government allocations.
