Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has cast doubt on a clear return date for teenage star Lamine Yamal, describing the winger’s groin injury as “not so easy” to heal.
While the club initially stated Yamal would be out for two-to-three weeks, Flick suggested the timeline is uncertain. He explained that with this type of injury, it is impossible to confirm if the player will be ready for the crucial Clasico against Real Madrid on October 26th.
“The important thing is that we manage his load,” Flick said, confirming Yamal will work with the recovery team for the coming weeks. The injury is a recurrence of a problem Yamal first suffered while on international duty with Spain in September.
Flick also stood by his recent criticism of Spain’s national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, for using pain-killing injections on the player. Flick stated he did not regret his comments, as his priority is to “protect my players.”
