Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has praised Granit Xhaka, saying the midfielder helped him become a better manager. Arteta shared these thoughts before Arsenal’s match with Sunderland, where Xhaka now plays as team captain.
Xhaka, who is now 33 and plays for Sunderland, had a mixed experience during his seven years at Arsenal. There were difficult moments, including losing the team captaincy after a dispute with fans in 2019. Arteta arrived shortly after and worked to improve the relationship with Xhaka.
Arteta said he enjoyed working with Xhaka, who went on to play an important role for the team. He said Xhaka responded positively to support, and that their time together improved both him and the club. Arteta added that he is grateful to Xhaka for his contributions.
Since returning to the Premier League with Sunderland, Xhaka has become one of their key players. Sunderland is currently fourth in the league, and Arteta praised the club for their progress.
Arsenal is at the top of the Premier League and faces Sunderland next. Arteta said the team is focused and knows it must keep improving to achieve its goals. He dismissed talk that the season’s title is already decided and expressed confidence in Arsenal’s strengths.

Shank sparks debate with story of mum’s reaction to tattoo
Nigerian skit maker and comedian Adesokan Emmanuel, popularly known as Shank, has stirred debate on social media after sharing how his mother reacted when she discovered he has a tattoo. In a recent video, he narrated that the revelation immediately turned into a Bible quoting session at home. According to Shank, he had kept the tattoo hidden from his mother for some time. When she finally found out, she was visibly upset and began citing Bible verses and religious teachings to express her disapproval. His story quickly went viral, with many Nigerians relating it to broader arguments in Christian circles about whether tattoos are acceptable for believers. The conversation has revived earlier debates triggered by comments from Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, who previously said during a live broadcast that there is no specific Bible verse that outright forbids tattoos for Christians. Funke Akindele explains why she stopped attending church services
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has revealed why she no longer attends physical church services on Sundays. She said she stopped going because her presence often turns into a distraction, with people and media teams focusing more on her than on the worship. In a video shared on her Snapchat story, Akindele explained that whenever she attends church, cameras and congregants tend to concentrate on recording or looking at her instead of paying attention to the sermon and the message. She said this made her uncomfortable and convinced her that staying away from the physical building was better for everyone. The actress stressed that her decision does not mean she has abandoned her faith. According to her, she still maintains a personal relationship with God, prays regularly and follows services online rather than in person. Akindele added that she […]

Team Nigeria delivered an impressive performance at the Debswana World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana, securing three qualification spots for next year’s World Championships. With a largely home based squad, the athletes rose to the occasion and ensured Nigeria will be represented in multiple relay events on the global stage. Nigeria’s biggest highlight came in the mixed 4x400m relay, where the quartet of Samson Nathaniel, Taiwo Kudoro, Chidi Okezie and Patience Okon George ran a season’s best of 3:12.88 to finish second in their heat. That result was enough to secure a ticket to the 2027 World Championships in Beijing and underlined the country’s growing strength in the one lap relay. The women’s 4x100m team also secured qualification after bouncing back from an earlier setback. Following a baton mishap that cost them in their first outing, the quartet of Rosemary […]

Super sub Iheanacho delighted after firing Celtic to the summit
Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed his excitement after coming off the bench to score the decisive goal that lifted Celtic to the top of the Scottish Premiership table. The Nigerian striker was once again the hero as his late strike sealed a 2 1 comeback win away to Hibernian at Easter Road. Celtic went ahead in the first half through Daizen Maeda, but Hibs captain Joe Newell levelled the game before the break despite the hosts being reduced to 10 men following Jamie McGrath’s red card. The visitors then piled on the pressure in the second period, creating chances but struggling to find a breakthrough until Iheanacho stepped up. Introduced as a second half substitute, Iheanacho made his impact in the 72nd minute when he calmly finished inside the box after Celtic forced another opening against the tiring […]
