2027: APC Leaders Urge Tinubu to Retain Kashim Shettima as his Running Mate for Presidential Race.

Article arrow_drop_down

Prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election. This appeal comes amid rumors of mounting pressure from certain quarters, particularly the Northwest, to replace Shettima ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The request was made during a strategic meeting held at the Government House in Maiduguri, where key political stakeholders from Borno State gathered to consolidate support for the Tinubu administration and strengthen the party’s influence in the region. Attendees included high-ranking APC members such as Ali Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman North, senators, former ambassadors, and other influential figures.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the leaders praised Shettima’s “commitment, loyalty, and diligent service” to President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.” They emphasized his pivotal role in advancing the administration’s policies and urged the president to consider retaining him for a second term.

“The meeting prayed for Mr. President to retain His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima as his VP for his second term,” the statement read. It further highlighted Shettima’s dedication and urged him to “remain loyal to his Boss, Mr. President, and continue to serve diligently to promote the laudable policies of Mr. President.”

The leaders also pledged their “total and unalloyed loyalty and support” to President Tinubu, reaffirming their commitment to the success of his administration and the APC’s future in Borno State.

This development underscores the growing importance of unity within the APC as the party prepares for the challenges of the 2027 elections. Will President Tinubu heed the call to retain Shettima? Only time will tell.
