Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli are reportedly preparing an ambitious bid to sign Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu from Turkish club Trabzonspor this summer.
Reports in Spain and Nigeria say the Jeddah club see the in form forward as a priority target as they plan for next season. Onuachu has been in outstanding form in the Turkish Super Lig, scoring 17 goals in 20 appearances and netting in six straight matches.
His prolific record has made the 31 year old one of the most sought after centre forwards playing outside Europe’s traditional top five leagues.
Al Ahli’s interest is understood to be linked to uncertainty over the future of England striker Ivan Toney, who has been tipped for a high profile return to the Premier League. The Saudi club view Onuachu as a like for like replacement, offering similar height, aerial strength and penalty box presence.
Onuachu is said to be open to the move, which could triple his current salary in Turkey and deliver a major financial boost at this stage of his career. However, Trabzonspor’s approval will be crucial because he is under contract with the Black Sea club until June 2028 after making his switch permanent last summer.
The lanky forward recently helped Nigeria win bronze at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and remains an important part of the Super Eagles attack. He is expected to lead the line again at the Four Nation Invitational Tournament in Amman, Jordan, where Nigeria will face Iran and the hosts in March.
