Lagos, Nigeria – A 13-member jury panel has arrived in Lagos to evaluate thousands of entries for the 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA). The week-long adjudication process, running from August 8 to 16, will determine the nominees for this year’s prestigious awards.
The jury will assess submissions from African artists, producers, songwriters, DJs, dancers, video directors, and record labels, including undiscovered talents across the continent and diaspora. The final nominees’ list will be unveiled after the rigorous screening.
AFRIMA, organized in partnership with the African Union (AU) and hosted by Lagos State, celebrates African musical excellence under this year’s theme: “Unstoppable Africa.” The awards feature over 40 categories, recognizing diverse genres and regional talent.
Commitment to Fair and Transparent Judging
Ms. Hadja Kobele, representing the African Diaspora (North America) on the jury, emphasized the panel’s dedication to a credible and unbiased selection process.
“Every entry—whether from a superstar or an emerging artist—will be judged solely on merit,” she stated. “We’re looking for musical quality, originality, cultural impact, and relevance. AFRIMA is not about popularity contests; it’s about honoring true artistry.”
Kobele assured that the jury, comprising industry veterans, producers, journalists, and cultural experts, will uphold the highest standards of integrity.
“Africa is watching, and we take this responsibility seriously. Only the most deserving talents will make the list—no shortcuts, no biases,” she added.
The 2025 AFRIMA ceremony promises to be another grand celebration of Africa’s vibrant music scene, with nominees set to be announced soon.
Stay tuned for updates on the official AFRIMA platforms.
