DR Congo may be out of AFCON 2025, but their supporters have left one of the strongest impressions of the tournament.
From drums and dances to viral super fans, they turned every match into a moving street carnival in the stands.
One of the most striking images was the “statue” supporter who stood motionless for 90 minutes with his arm raised, in tribute to independence hero Patrice Lumumba.
His calm, symbolic pose, surrounded by noise and colour, captured global attention and quickly became one of the defining visuals of AFCON 2025.
Around him, DR Congo fans filled Moroccan stadiums with coordinated songs, bright outfits in national colours and nonstop drumming.
Their presence showed how passionate support can lift a team and also entertain neutral fans, even when the result on the pitch is disappointing.
With DR Congo now eliminated, many at the tournament say the atmosphere will not feel quite the same.
Their unique mix of choreography, symbolism and sheer joy is what many believe African football must protect, even as organisers tighten security and stadium rules.

The Nigeria Labour Congress says a monthly salary of 1 million naira is meaningless for workers without a stable currency and better economic conditions. Ghana has withdrawn from talks on a new United States health aid deal after objecting to US demands for access to sensitive personal health data.
