Tunde Ogbeha Quits PDP, Joins ADC Amid Leadership Crisis
Retired Brigadier-General and ex-Senator Tunde Ogbeha has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , accusing the party of losing its identity and becoming a subject of mockery across Nigeria.
In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward A in Lokoja Local Government Area , Ogbeha said:
“I write to formally inform you of my decision to resign from the PDP with immediate effect.”
Ogbeha, who represented Kogi West in the Senate from 1999 to 2007 , said he stayed loyal to the party even when others left after the 2015 presidential election loss .
“I remained firm when nearly all stakeholders departed. I pledged to be the last man standing.”
“PDP Is Now a Shadow of Its Former Self” – Ogbeha
Ogbeha accused the PDP of failing to learn from its mistakes and allowing internal conflicts to take over unity.
He claimed that years of his efforts helped restore the party’s national relevance after its fall in 2015.
“I worked hard to rebuild, reconcile, and reposition the party,” he said.
But now, he says the PDP is no longer functional or respected.
“Deepening divisions, persistent leadership crisis, and irreconcilable differences have reduced the party to a laughing stock.”
He added that the PDP has become a source of public ridicule rather than pride.
Ogbeha Joins ADC to Rescue Democracy
After consultations with family and political allies, Ogbeha announced his move to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) .
He described his switch as part of a broader effort to “rescue our nation and preserve our hard-won democracy.”
“The ADC offers hope where the PDP now brings shame.”
His defection signals growing unrest within the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections , especially among veteran leaders seeking alternatives to both the APC and PDP .

Crude hits 114 as fears grow over fresh petrol price hikes in Nigeria
There are fresh concerns that petrol prices in Nigeria could rise further after Brent crude oil jumped to about 114 dollars per barrel following a sharp escalation in the United States and Israel war on Iran .
