As part of his ongoing commitment to national unity and social welfare, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Eid-el-Kabir donation of 900 bags of 50kg rice and 10 cows has brought joy and relief to the Muslim community in Abuja ahead of the Sallah celebrations .
The generous donation was channeled through the office of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and presented to the Abuja National Mosque for equitable distribution among those in need.
A Generous Eid-el-Kabir Donation
On Monday, June 2, 2025, the distribution exercise commenced at the Abuja National Mosque under the supervision of the Mosque’s Distribution Committee. Professor Luqman Zakariyah, Acting Chairman of the committee and an Imam at the mosque, explained that this Tinubu Eid-el-Kabir donation was aimed at uplifting low-income families and organizations within the Muslim community.
“Few weeks ago, Mr. President, through the office of the First Lady, sent 900 bags of 50kg rice and 10 cows to the mosque for distribution to the needy,” he said.
While the items were received two weeks prior, the committee deliberately delayed the distribution so that beneficiaries could utilize them during the Eid-ul-Adha festivities, which fell on Friday, June 6, 2025 —a time marked by feasting, prayer, and giving back to the community.
Ensuring Fair and Transparent Distribution
To ensure fairness and inclusivity, the committee followed established protocols from previous distributions. Beneficiaries included:
- Regular attendees who seek assistance at the mosque
- Essential support staff such as cleaners, security personnel, and healthcare providers
- Representatives from various area councils across Abuja
Each area council received 10 bags of rice to be shared among their local communities. The 10 cows were scheduled for slaughter on Thursday, June 5 , and distributed among listed beneficiaries the following day.
“This gesture from President Tinubu is not just about food—it’s about compassion, unity, and sharing blessings with those who need it most,” said Professor Zakariyah.
Heartfelt Reactions from Beneficiaries
Ustaz Yunus Salawodeen, Public Relations Officer of the Abuja Muslims Forum , expressed deep gratitude for the timely Tinubu Eid-el-Kabir donation .
“We are here today to receive support from Mr. President through the office of the First Lady. We are grateful that Mr. President has remembered the Muslim community in Abuja this Sallah celebration by donating rice and cows to us.”
He added, “While we understand it may not reach everyone, no one should go hungry during Eid-el-Kabir.”
Another beneficiary, Cletus Muhammed Nwaneri , praised the leadership of the Abuja Mosque for ensuring equitable access to the donated items.
“This rice will significantly aid many people, fostering development and peace in our country. For those who are hungry, this rice and meat will enable us to celebrate Sallah peacefully. May Allah bless the donor and guide us all,” he remarked.
A Symbol of Leadership and Compassion
President Tinubu’s Eid-el-Kabir donation reflects his administration’s broader vision of inclusive governance and social responsibility. By supporting diverse religious communities across Nigeria, Tinubu continues to set a powerful example of leadership grounded in empathy and public service.
This act reinforces the importance of charity and solidarity during Sallah , especially in times when economic challenges affect vulnerable groups.
