Gunmen have killed 11 people in a mass shooting at a hostel in South Africa’s capital, Pretoria, police have confirmed.
The attackers stormed the hostel in the early hours of Saturday and opened fire, killing 10 adults and a three year old child at the scene.
Police said officers responding to reports of gunfire found multiple bodies inside the building, while several other people were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe the incident may be linked to criminal or gang related tensions in the area, but said it was too early to confirm the exact motive.
A manhunt has been launched for the suspects, with police appealing to residents for information and promising to deploy additional patrols to prevent further violence.

The National Commission for Museums and Monuments has listed the ancient Dufuna canoe and Lugard’s Footbridge as two of Nigeria’s most important heritage sites.The commission said both sites reflect key phases in Nigeria’s history, from prehistoric innovation to the colonial era.
