According to reports, a woman in her 20s, identified as Ms. A, approached Son in June 2024, claiming she was pregnant with his child. She allegedly demanded several hundred million Korean won to keep the matter private. Subsequently, a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. B, contacted Son’s representatives in March 2025, threatening to publicize the claim unless paid tens of millions of won. Believing the pregnancy claim to be false, Son’s representatives refused the demands and filed a criminal complaint with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on May 7, 2025.

Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings

The Seoul Gangnam Police have detained both Ms. A and Mr. B on suspicion of attempted extortion. Authorities have applied for arrest warrants and are investigating whether any funds were transferred under coercion. The case remains under active investigation.

Statement from Son’s Agency

Son’s agency, Son & Football Limited, issued a statement emphasizing that the footballer is the clear victim in this case. They stated, “We will take strong legal action against those who engaged in blackmail and intimidation based on clearly false claims.”
