Reality TV star and Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, has opened up about her difficult childhood and how it made her reject her birth name.
In a recent interview, Phyna revealed that her parents originally named her Blessing, but she never liked the name because she did not feel any sense of blessing growing up. She said her early years were marked by hardship, emotional pain and a lack of support, which made the name sound like a constant contradiction to her reality.
According to her, she often felt deprived of love and care and struggled with feelings of rejection within her family. These experiences made her distance herself from the name Blessing and eventually embrace Phyna as her identity as she grew older and started building her own life.
Phyna explained that choosing the name Phyna was part of her effort to redefine her story and separate herself from the pain associated with her childhood. She said she now sees herself as a strong and independent woman who no longer needs constant validation from people who did not support her when she needed them the most.
The reality star added that her journey from a hurting child who never felt blessed to a successful public figure has taught her the importance of self love and healing. She encouraged people with similar backgrounds not to let their painful beginnings define their futures, but to focus on creating new paths for themselves.
Her emotional revelation has sparked reactions on social media, with many fans expressing sympathy and praising her for speaking honestly about her struggles.
