Obaapa Christy & Sarkodie Shine on “Odeneho” Album

Article arrow_drop_down

At a time when the global music industry thrives on viral singles and fleeting moments, Ghanaian gospel powerhouse Obaapa Christy has chosen a different path—releasing a full body of work designed to be more than music, but a spiritual experience.

Her 15th studio album, Odeneho (The Sovereign One), dropped on July 31, 2025, and is already resonating across gospel and secular circles alike.

What set the album apart wasn’t only its depth but also its groundbreaking collaboration. Obaapa Christy joined forces with Sarkodie, one of Ghana’s greatest rap icons, for the title track “Odeneho.”

The feature is being hailed as a “spiritual crossover”—a bridge between gospel and mainstream rap.

“This was more than a feature. It was a testimony,” Sarkodie shared.

Known for his lyrical precision, Sarkodie delivered one of the most emotional verses of his career. According to him, this collaboration was not just a professional highlight, but a “bucket list achievement.”

Obaapa Christy added: “If you see how Sarkodie sang ‘Odeneho’ with such emotion, you’d know he truly loves God. I’ve never seen him sing with so much feeling. God bless him.”

A short teaser of the “Odeneho” music video has already gone viral, sparking widespread curiosity. Both artistes have promised the full video will be released soon—described not just as a visual, but as a testimony in itself.

Beyond the collaboration, Odeneho offers a 12-track journey of hope, worship, thanksgiving, and breakthrough, positioning itself as a modern-day psalm book.

Among the standout tracks are:

  1. “No Weapon” – A soul-stirring anthem of resilience and spiritual warfare, with its official video set for September 4, 2025. Fans are already calling it one of the most comforting gospel releases of recent years.
  2. “Gyae Su” ft. Brother Sammy – A cry of comfort and healing.
  3. “Thank You Jesus” ft. Junior (Obaapa Christy’s second son) – A heartfelt celebration of gratitude.
  4. “Yesu Mo”, “Waye Yie Nwom Ni”, and “Omma Me Nte Nhwe” – Solo works filled with depth, worship, and fire.

Ghana to Declare 21 Marine Protected Areas Starting at Greater Cape Three Points

Ghana is preparing to declare 21 coastal communities as Marine Protected Areas in a major step toward restoring marine biodiversity and strengthening fisheries management. The first declaration is expected to take place at Greater Cape Three Points in the Western Region. Once designated, fishing activities within the protected zones will be restricted to allow depleted fish stocks to recover. Part of the Global 30×30 Target The move forms part of Ghana’s commitment to the global 30×30 target, which calls for the protection of at least 30 percent of the world’s land and ocean areas by 2030. The goal falls under Target 3 of the Global Biodiversity Framework and has been adopted by more than 190 countries. Despite the widespread commitment, progress remains slow.
