Man Perched on Billboard Sparks Panic in Kano
A mysterious man has climbed a tall billboard at the Gadar Lado junction along Zaria Road in Kano State , leading many to suspect he may be attempting suicide .
The incident began around 1 p.m. , drawing a large crowd and causing serious traffic delays in one of the city’s busiest areas.
As of this report, the man has remained atop the structure , speaking to himself but refusing to communicate with authorities or bystanders.
Witnesses Describe Tense Scene, Rumours Spread
Eyewitness Habeeb Ishaq said he arrived at the scene over an hour ago and found the man already on the billboard.
“He was already up there when I came,” Habeeb told Leadership .
“He keeps mumbling, but we can’t hear him clearly.”
He added that some people in the crowd claimed the man wanted to meet the Kano State Governor , though no official statement supports this.
Another witness, Mallam Hassan , expressed frustration over the resulting gridlock:
“This one man has delayed hundreds of people. I missed an important meeting because of this.”
Police Arrive, Crowd Control Underway
Law enforcement officers have since arrived at the scene to manage the situation.
They are working to calm the crowd , ease traffic , and engage the man without triggering further distress.
Efforts to talk to the man have stalled due to his refusal to respond and the height of the billboard , which makes direct intervention difficult.
Authorities are currently assessing how best to bring him down safely.
