Gloria Jemedafe celebrates Christmas with indigent children in Lagos

Article arrow_drop_down

On Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, Nollywood actress Gloria Jemedafe marked the festivities by celebrating with indigent children in Lagos. The event took place at Government College Senior, Eric Moore, Surulere, where dozens of children spent the day socialising and having fun with the actress.

The outreach was organised by her NGO, The Rewrite Nigeria Development Initiative, in partnership with Ijora Badia community group The White Sand. Activities included games, dancing, food and drinks, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere for the participants.

The Christmas party has become an annual tradition since 2019 and now serves as a major highlight of Jemedafe’s charity work. This year’s edition featured a star attraction, a N1 million grand prize sponsored by Apecslustre Digital Services Limited.

The prize went to Shadiya Iyabode Julius, who emerged as the overall winner at the event. Jemedafe explained that the N1 million is structured so that N500,000 is given as cash, while N500,000 is invested to provide a monthly stipend before being returned with interest.

Speaking on her motivation, the actress revealed that she lost her father on Christmas Day, a loss that once made the season difficult for her. She said her father used to organise similar charitable activities, and she decided to continue the tradition in his memory.

Jemedafe added that her team sponsors some children to school and runs a 12 day feeding programme every year. The initiative provides daily meals leading up to the Christmas party, which serves as the grand finale of the outreach.

Known for roles in films such as Love in Transit, Bad Boys Security, Baby Farm and the Blossom series, Jemedafe said she now finds joy in spending Christmas in service to others. She described the yearly celebration as her own way of turning personal grief into lasting impact for vulnerable children.
