Les Evala 2025 : Plongée au Cœur d’un Rite Sacré Kabyè

Un Événement Culturel Hors du Commun

Du 19 au 27 juillet 2025, les montagnes de la préfecture de la Kozah, au nord du Togo, vibreront au rythme des Evala, ces luttes traditionnelles qui constituent bien plus qu’un simple spectacle : un rite de passage sacré pour les jeunes Kabyè.

Cet événement, patrimoine culturel inestimable, attire chaque année des milliers de visiteurs, dont le Président Faure Gnassingbé, lui-même originaire de cette région.

Les Evala : Bien Plus qu’un Tournoi de Lutte

Les Evala représentent un passage obligatoire pour tout jeune Kabyè, généralement âgé de 18 à 20 ans, marquant sa transition vers l’âge adulte.

✔ Un rite initiatique – Les jeunes hommes, appelés Evalou, doivent prouver leur force physique, endurance et maturité.
✔ Une célébration culturelle – Musique, danses et rituels ancestraux accompagnent les combats.
✔ Un attrait touristique majeur – Des visiteurs du monde entier viennent vivre cette expérience unique.

La Préparation : Un Engagement Physique et Spirituel

Months before the event, the future Evalou begin rigorous training:
🏋️ Entraînement intensif – Renforcement musculaire et techniques de lutte.
🙏 Rituels traditionnels – Purifications, offrandes aux ancêtres et prières.
👕 Préparation vestimentaire – Les lutteurs portent des habits traditionnels aux couleurs symboliques (vert pour Lao-Bas, blanc pour Lao-Haut).

Le Déroulement des Combats : Une Ambiance Électrique

Pendant une semaine, les villages de Pya, Tcharè, Soumdina et Lassa résonnent des cris d’encouragement.

⚡ Affrontements individuels – Les jeunes s’affrontent pour faire tomber leur adversaire.
🎉 Ferveur populaire – Les communautés se rassemblent pour soutenir leurs champions.
👑 Présence présidentielle – Faure Gnassingbé, fidèle au rendez-vous, honore cette tradition.

Togo : rebond des services marchands en décembre

Au Togo, les services marchands non financiers ont enregistré une nette reprise en décembre 2025, avec une progression mensuelle de 13,6 %, selon les données de la BCEAO.
