College of Education Teachers Threaten Strike Over Government’s Unfulfilled Obligations.

The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has announced plans to embark on an indefinite strike starting January 2025 if the government fails to address several long-standing grievances.

During an emergency meeting on December 20, CETAG expressed frustration over the government’s failure to honor agreements, including migration of teaching staff to affiliate universities’ pay structures and payment of compensation for extra work completed in 2022.

Despite multiple engagements with stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education and the National Labour Commission, no resolution has been reached. CETAG warns that the strike will disrupt teacher training unless all outstanding issues are addressed by December 31, 2024.
