A 36-year-old driver, Emmanuel Klutse, has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing GH¢50,000 from his former boss’ vehicle at Spintex, Accra.
The court, presided over by Mr. Isaac Addo, granted Klutse bail at GH¢50,000 with two sureties and adjourned the case to February 12, 2025.
According to Chief Inspector Josephine Lamptey, the complainant, a Procurement Officer at Kasapreko Company Limited, had withdrawn GH¢60,000, keeping GH¢50,000 in his car parked at the company premises. CCTV footage revealed Klutse breaking into the car, taking the cash, and fleeing in a Toyota Highlander.
Klutse, who had previously worked for the complainant as a personal driver, admitted to the crime during interrogation and revealed that he used a spare key he had taken upon leaving the job. He also disclosed that he shared the stolen money with two accomplices who are currently at large.
The accused used part of his share to settle personal debts.
